Tahaa Hussein is still alive among us, and he will remain through what he wrote and published in his fertile life, and what we publish after his passing forty years ago, and what we read and interpret, and explore his intentions and dimensions, and what we agree with him on and learn from him or differ with him and move beyond.. The heritage of the Dean has become an integral part of our Arab culture and its conscience.. And his writings, criticism, creativity, and history, will remain a magical world teeming with ideas and visions, overflowing with lessons of literature and its arts, and revealing the charms and luster of the language. It caught our attention that there are more than twenty books of the Dean of Arab Literature "gathering" many articles he published in newspapers and magazines over many decades, which received no attention other than from those concerned with everything he wrote. They addressed more intellectual, literary, and cultural issues than what he published in his famous works, as he traversed the horizons of renaissance, modernity, and enlightenment, and dealt with topics about religion, science, the civil state, reform of education and Al-Azhar, identity, and renewing heritage.. And how much we need today to reread what Tahaa Hussein wrote, as we look forward to building a new Egypt worthy of every progress, advancement, and elevation, to be guided by it on our way to the future.
