A stranger tells his story, which begins with his estrangement from his country, then with the death of his mother, and the events that follow he narrates himself, to become the reader closer to this person who, in fact, his estrangement from himself represented his true estrangement in the world and from the universe and its Creator... In the furnace of this village, he has no friend but the execution that was sentenced to him for committing the crime of killing a young man. Events alternate to reflect more the human struggle with himself, and this novel is the first by Albert Camus, the Nobel laureate in literature.
