Product description

The biggest event in academic sociology curricula in the second half of the twentieth century was the study of culture. This topic was not new to sociology, but it received significant revisions in many fields within the humanities, such as philosophy, art history, English literature, and others. The subject also created a special field for itself in cultural studies. It seems that the idea that all this was an invention contains some contradiction, because culture was the focus of human sciences, especially anthropology, for at least a century. Therefore, we need to understand how and why sociological curricula were reshaped through the shift to culture. I believe that with the shift towards culture, sociologists refined and developed fundamental sociological projects to describe modernity, and it is now clear that these revisions have marked the beginning of the history of contemporary life.
