How capitalism let down the Arab world

Capitalism has let down the Arab world on many levels. First, the capitalist system encourages promoting the economy based on profit, which means that interest in economic interests takes precedence over interest in social interests, and therefore it may lead to worsening social and economic disparities and increasing discrimination between the wealthy and the poor. Second, the capitalist system does not consider the local, cultural, and social needs of local communities; it encourages large companies to invest in fields that bring them the greatest profit instead of investments that meet local needs.
