Product description
A diving trip and dialogue with about 80 diverse books, captured by critic Mahmoud Abdel Shakur, seeking in them the places of beauty, depth of meaning, joy of different ideas, completing what he started in the first part of "Wans Al-Kutub." He says in his introduction that what is written about is a small part of what is read, and therefore he promises us here a delicious feast with special selections, emphasizing that the critic's role is to make an effort to strike the stone, from which light emerges, and fire springs forth, his role is to discover the tree within the seed, the mother within the girl, the rain within the cloud, the words that lips do not speak, and the colors hidden in all existence.
The discovery of beauty seems more difficult than ugliness, but it is more enjoyable, whether for the writer or the reader, and analyzing beauty is in a reverse manner a satire of ugliness, and a means to distinguish and discover it. Writing about beauty is an implicit rejection, a clear condemnation, and an open war against ugliness.
Mahmoud Abdel Shakur denies that people reject knowledge, for they were born with receiving devices, and they were born with devices that think, contemplate, and taste, despite their varying degrees of comprehension and their differing tastes. But they wait for a way that facilitates this reception, makes them love it, and compensates for their effort and pursuit. They wait for a safe passage to knowledge, one that brings closer rather than repels, one that is friendly rather than arrogant.
