The jurist and the philosopher

Product description
Starting from the title of the text, the jurist and the philosopher, with what it suggests of a duality between two seemingly contradictory domains, the first of which relies on transmitted knowledge and on the surface of the text without its possible interpretations, while the second celebrates the power of the mind, its inferences, and its measurable and demonstrable discoveries. Two systems of thought are identified, formed through intersection, opposition, and repeated clashes — the most prominent and dense space in our intellectual heritage. In the characters of the text, its contexts, and scenes, what can be considered a dialogue of dualities and a debate of extreme positions is prevalent, between the two central dichotomies: reason and revelation. This debate was the main concern of the writer "Sayyid Ibrahim," who shaped his text as a reflection around concepts, ideas, and interpretations, and built his dramatic structure through mechanisms of reflection and theatrical play, where he invoked "Ibn Rushd" and his philosophical project of rationalism, as if placing a mirror before the current time, and summoned old intellectual contradictions and their complex heritage, as if writing engaged and intertwined with the tilted issues, here and now.
