All of Ibn Arabi's writings are based "on mystery and symbolism" and the most astonishing puzzles and riddles are those we contemplate in his book "Tanzeel al-Amlak min Aalam al-Arwah ila Aalam al-Afalak" (Descending of the Possessions from the World of Spirits to the World of the Celestial Spheres). In it, he gives meaning to Sharia and prayer and the obligation of ablution and pouring water, precisely defining the relationship of the body and its organs with the elements of nature and specifically with the element of water, and he gives it its metaphysical dimensions. Then he talks about prayer, establishing it, its takbirs, raising the hands in it, facing the Qibla, standing, and recitation. He discusses the difference between Al-Fatiha and a surah, bowing, rising from bowing, prostration, rising from prostration, sitting, Tashahhud, and the secrets of Salam. All these obligations originate from the Sharia, which is divine: Say, "If the earth had angels walking securely, We would have sent down to them from the sky a messenger." Ibn Arabi considers that the soul is the one that descends, addressing the mind at times and the heart at other times, revealing to both the secrets of the obligations. Sometimes, the mind and heart converse, each revealing to the other an important secret of its own mission.
