Hunger

"Jou" an analytical psychological novel invading a new field, showing a man weakened to the point that psychological and mental motives sweep him like a leaf between the waves of the wind, the hero in "Jou" justifies exaggerated foolish thoughts but cannot support them for more than a few moments. His connections with other people are at a lower level and improvised and only add to his shameful condition, seeing life as it is in the abyss, in an atmosphere where despair represents a kind of cure, and despite the wandering on the face, the violent mood of the novel oscillates, and desecration of narrative protocols gives it strength. "Jou" remains a classic novel not because it is influential or important in the history of the novel but because it still appears easy to read and realistic, and although it was written in late 1880, it is still alive, depicting the harshest states of pain.
