Product description
This series of classical philosophy, authored and translated, is the most prominent foundation of our modern renaissance, and it is what previous generations grew up on. Today, we are in great need to re-publish these classics of pioneering works and translations so that our young generations can benefit from them, especially given the scarcity of contemporary specialists' writings in philosophy and its various fields, and in the absence of a philosophical approach to thinking about our contemporary life, which was the direct cause of the extremism, fanaticism, rigidity, intolerance of others, and the loss of the ability to analyze and critique ideas. The close connection between Greek philosophy on one hand and Islamic philosophy on the other, and between Western philosophy in the medieval era, makes it necessary for the reader to be connected to both Greek and Islamic heritage to be able to understand this part of the history of philosophy. Our historian wrote this book focusing on revealing that a careful reading of the history of European philosophy in the medieval era shows that European progress in philosophy and science during the so-called Renaissance and modern era did not come out of nowhere; rather, the beginnings of this progress and its signs were present among these philosophers, especially after their contact with the Arab philosophical and scientific heritage, their exposure to Arabic translations and explanations of Greek philosophers, and their benefit from them, as well as their benefit from the creations and opinions of Muslim philosophers and scientists in various fields. Describing this medieval era as an age of darkness and stagnation is entirely incorrect; intellectual development is present in any civilization, whether its pace accelerates or slows down depending on the events and circumstances its people go through.
