The West in Arab culture

The West in Arab culture by Maria Avino ... says the translator Dr. Hussein Mahmoud about the importance of the book: "The exceptional development of cultural journalism in the 19th century led to very positive effects such as rebuilding the broken relationship between the Arabs and the rest of the world through the dissemination of Western literature." Dr. Mahmoud added that as a result, this new cultural situation led to a lively debate between conservatives and reformists, supporters of modernity and traditionalists concerned with the cultural and linguistic influences, as well as the political and social impacts of Western culture on the Arab world.
