This research revolves around one of the most important topics in the principles of Islamic jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh), a topic to which scholars have given considerable attention: the concept of the title (al-laqab), which is one of the categories of the concept of opposition (al-mafhum al-mukhalafa). The researcher begins by discussing the concept of opposition and its categories in general terms, then proceeds to discuss the concept of the title (al-laqab), clarifying its true meaning according to the scholars of jurisprudence and its relationship to other similar issues in the field. The researcher also investigates the first scholar of jurisprudence to mention the concept of the title by this name and examines the validity of this type of concept.
