Product description
Overview of the book: This analytical source study highlights the sources of the pilgrimage routes, and recalls the extensive heritage in documenting the paths, routes, places, and locations throughout Islamic eras, thus forming a global literature distinguished by Islamic culture, unlike other cultures. The importance of this authentic heritage lies in its being a strong barrier against the repeated attempts made today by a group of Western scholars who work to doubt the locations, including the site of the honorable Mecca, and the direction of the Qibla towards it, presenting weak reasons, one of the main aims being to doubt the religious, doctrinal, and spatial constants.
Overview of the author: Professor Dr. Abbas Saleh Tashkandi, has more than forty publications in library and information sciences, including a scientific series on the history of the two holy cities, Mecca and Medina, and is the chief editor of the Encyclopedia of Mecca and Medina. He previously worked as a member of the King Faisal Foundation for Islamic Studies, and currently is a member of the scientific committee at the Medina Studies and Research Center, and has received the Mr. Amin Madani Award and Dr. Nizar Ubaid Madani Award.
