In the etiquette of friendship

These messages were not written with the intention of publishing at all, similar to some of our famous literary correspondences. They were decided to be published after the death of Abdul Rahman, through a commendable initiative by Suad Qawadri Munif and Marwan. And I have no doubt that Abdul Rahman would have agreed if he had been asked. These correspondences are a story of friendship, a friendship that existed before the start of the correspondence, and a friendship that was manifested and developed during and through it.
