Product description

In the closed community of his village, Milad the craftsman seeks to define masculinity as his society sees it, fails throughout his life to be a man after many attempts, decides to be himself and forget this definition after meeting his beloved and future wife Zainab, lives his days inside the house taking on roles that society reserves for women, while his beloved works to support the household, thus they reverse social roles. Milad remains unaware of his society's mockery until his cousin reveals what is happening around him. The novel addresses the different community definitions of masculinity, but it retains one definition of the opposite or "non-man" man that Milad the craftsman symbolizes. This novel re-examines ready-made perceptions of the concept of "gender" and condemns stereotypical molds that confine the functions of women and men within specific frameworks; if either exceeds them, they cross the limits set for them. It is a novel of victory for the individual against deadly collective ideas, and a victory for the human experience in the face of all fixed descriptions.
