The Book of Lisan al-Arab is an Arabic linguistic dictionary compiled by Ibn Manzur al-Ansari (d. 711 AH). Al-Zurqali described the dictionary as having "gathered the main books of the language, almost making them unnecessary." The author is Muhammad bin Makram bin Ali Ibn Manzur al-Ansari al-Khazraji (630 AH - 711 AH / 1232 AD - 1311 AD): historian, scholar of language, and judge: Tripoli of the West.
