A kilogram of Altura suits anyone wanting a cup that holds fruit and chocolate together without leaning to either side. Strawberry leads the aroma, cherry gives the natural sweetness its depth, and chocolate builds a rich body that makes the cup satisfying in daily brewing and holds together well with milk. Bourbon and Catimor give consistency in extraction; Catimor in particular is a hybrid bred for resistance to coffee leaf rust, and is the reason many farms in the region are still producing today. The elevation here is 1500 meters, lower than most of what we carry, but high in the Mexican context — which is why the cup reads less acidic and fuller than high-grown lots, a deliberate quality rather than a shortfall. The finish is clean and even, keeping the cup easy to repeat. This coffee suits brewing with V60 or espresso, where its details come through clearly and give a balanced experience in either method.
