Introduction to the book:
"Garden of the Gnostics" is a compilation of delicate matters and asceticism, softening hearts with the words of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, and the words of His noble companions رضي الله عنهم, and the righteous saints, and the practicing scholars and knowledgeable ones.
Because the world is a place of depletion, not a place of eternity, a crossing place, not a place of joy, a place of fading, not a place of permanence... the Quran warns against leaning towards it, being deceived by it, and relying on it.
Similarly, the prophetic sayings and wise narrations come; so, those who wake up from it are the worshipers, and the most rational among them are the ascetics.
Therefore, as the author, may Allah have mercy on him, said, it is truly upon a person to follow the way of the wise and to adopt the path of the perceptive.
The author, may Allah have mercy on him — a discerning critic — includes in this book a collection of precious insights and truths of knowledge in a solid style that keeps the reader away from boredom.
He incorporates verses from the Noble Qur'an, prophetic hadiths, sayings of the enlightened predecessors, and authentic narrations from the righteous, along with beautiful stories and ascetic poetry.
He often clarifies the authenticity and goodness of the hadiths, the condition of their narrators, and what may be hidden or confusing in their meanings, and he corrects what needs to be clarified to avoid misinterpretation and distortion.
He may omit the chain of narration for brevity, as this book is aimed at worshipers and those who do not need detailed chain information.
If there is a strange word or an unclear name in the hadith or story that needs clarification, he records and explains it with precise and clear clarification, and explains what needs further elaboration.
Included within this book are: various types of Islamic sciences, some of their subtle points in hadith, jurisprudence, and religious manners, aspects of the science of hadith and the subtle details of jurisprudence, essential principles of creed, precious rules, and interesting oddities that are appreciated in the mentioned topics, and recommended to be mentioned in gatherings.
It also relates to the states and diseases of the hearts, their medicine, and treatment.
Because Dar Al-Minhaj cares about printing the works of this great Imam and meticulous researcher, they have thoroughly verified this book and presented it in a manner befitting it.
After the initial print run was exhausted, they reviewed the book again scientifically and artistically, as is their custom with most of their publications.
They rechecked the book against a new manuscript copy, re-read it for accuracy, correction, editing, trimming, and referencing, and documented it with various valuable services.
They issued it in a new edition with a suitable size to facilitate circulation.
O Allah, benefit us, our loved ones, and all Muslims with this book, O You who nothing is beyond Your power, and nothing is too great for You.
And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
