Introduction to the book: This millennium is the most famous poem in grammar and morphology ever, its fame has reached the horizons, so much so that it is well-known and widely recited, and its benefit has spread across countries and lands. It is a summary of "Al-Kafiya Al-Shafiya" which Imam Ibn Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, composed in grammar and morphology in two thousand seven hundred and fifty-seven lines, then explained it with a comprehensive commentary that has no equal before or after, and no one has followed its pattern. He then saw fit to abbreviate it into only one thousand lines, making it a concise summary for students to easily acquire, incorporating most of what is in "Al-Kafiya Al-Shafiya" from important rules and principles, without neglecting the essentials and objectives. Thus, it came as a small-sized poem, rich in knowledge, easy to memorize, far from imitation, unmatchable in its words, and encompassing many meanings with few simple words, indicating that its author is an ocean of knowledge and an unrivaled pen. In this millennium, most topics of grammar and morphology are arranged in the best order, with an impressive organization and beautiful formatting; therefore, later scholars followed its pattern. Due to the importance of "Al-Kafiya," scholars and students have paid great attention to it, and more than two hundred works have been written about it, old and new; detailed and concise. Some explained it in prose or poetry, others added notes to it or its explanations, some explained its examples, some commented on it, some parsed it, and some summarized it... among other efforts. Imam Al-Murtada Al-Zabidi said in "Al-Ittihaf," recommending it and other similar works and highlighting its virtue: "Limit your knowledge of grammar to what relates to the Book and the Sunnah by reading a small book about it, such as 'Muqaddimat Al-Ajurrumiyyah.' If you want to increase your knowledge... then 'Al-Kafiya' by Ibn Hajjab, or 'Al-Alfiya' by Ibn Malik, and review the explanations of each." We pray to Allah Almighty to accept our service to it, benefit from it, and grant us success. And all praise is due to Allah, by whose grace good deeds are completed.
