Summary: An expanded and revised edition
There was a pressing need in this era to produce a concise interpretation that considers the principles and sources of Tafsir based on the methodology of the righteous predecessors, to ensure clarity that reassures and trusts the hearts, and to present the Tafsir in brief, simple words that clarify the meanings, goals, and intentions of the Quran, and reveal the connotations of words and their structures, which are often overlooked by the general public and their understanding.
A select group of renowned scholars of Tafsir, known for their knowledge and competence, were chosen to develop its initial version within certain guidelines, including:
First, interpreting the verses according to the belief of the righteous predecessors.
Second, prioritizing authentic narrations of Tafsir over others.
Third, limiting narration to the correct or most likely sayings.
Fourth, highlighting the Quranic guidance and the objectives of Sharia through the Tafsir.
Fifth, making the language concise and easy, while explaining the meanings of unfamiliar words during the Tafsir.
Sixth, the interpreter should understand the meaning equivalent to the verse and avoid adding extra interpretations found in other verses, so they are explained in their proper context.
Seventh, presenting the meaning of the verse directly without unnecessary elaboration unless required by necessity.
Eighth, the Tafsir should follow the narration of Hafs from Asim.
Ninth, avoiding mention of different readings, grammar, morphology, syntax, or rhetoric issues.
Tenth, interpreting each verse separately, though the meanings of two or more verses may be combined if their meanings are connected; the words of the Quran are not repeated unless necessary, and the verse number is mentioned at the beginning of each Tafsir.
Eleventh, the Tafsir should be of the extent that fits within the margin of the Madinah Mushaf.
Twelfth, the interpreter should consider that this Tafsir will be translated into various languages and avoid mentioning terms that are difficult to translate.
