Star Maker: Melissa Da Costa

Author: Melissa Da Costa Publication date: 2025 Book genre: Literature and Poetry Publisher: Wasm Publications Number of pages: 176 Format: Paperback Arthur was five years old when his mother, Clarice, revealed a great secret to him: that she would soon set out on a long journey to the planet Uranus. There, as Clarice explained, he would live on that frozen planet with twenty-seven moons, inhabited by shells with blue shells, feeding on polar snow parsley, trees with hanging ringing bells from their branches, and many other wondrous creatures. After many years, Arthur awaits the birth of his first daughter, and finds himself recalling his mother's stories and that fairy tale. He knows that the magical universe his mother described was a trick from a mother to explain to her son an imminent and eternal separation. A wonderful lie that she used to let the child dream and imagine, instead of facing reality, even if just for a while. Melissa Da Costa returns with a sweet and touching story, once again proving with her light pen that nothing is stronger than love to heal deep wounds, and that the ability to invent stories is the most extraordinary tool to face the pains of reality.
