Black is one of the colors that can be observed in nature. Black is the master of colors; we can define it as the impression left on the eye when no light rays are directed towards it.

Often used symbolically or metaphorically to represent darkness, black and white are used to describe opposites, particularly truth and ignorance, good and evil, and the "Dark Ages" versus the Age of Enlightenment. Since the Middle Ages, black has been the symbolic color of authority and power, which is why it is still traditionally worn by judges and magistrates.
