Product description
Product description: This medicine is used to treat severe cystic acne (also known as nodular acne) that has not responded to other treatments (such as benzoyl peroxide or clindamycin applied to the skin or tetracycline or minocycline orally). It belongs to a class of drugs known as retinoids. It works by reducing the production of facial oil (sebum). Large amounts of oil can lead to severe acne. If severe acne is left untreated, it may cause permanent scars.
Usage instructions: Take capsules whole. Do not crush them. Isotretinoin is usually taken twice daily for 15-20 weeks, or as directed by the doctor. Instructions for most forms of isotretinoin indicate it should be taken with meals. However, the FDA has indicated that Absorica can be taken with or without food. Food helps increase absorption of this medicine into the bloodstream. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. Take this medicine with a full glass of water, and do not lie down for at least 10 minutes after taking it. The dose depends on your medical condition, weight, and response to treatment. Your severe acne may worsen during the first few days of taking this medicine, and it may take up to a month or two before you see its full benefit.
In case of recurrence of severe acne, a second treatment cycle can be started after stopping the medicine for two months. The manufacturer does not recommend long-term use of isotretinoin. Do not take more than the recommended dose.
Warnings and precautions: Before using this medicine, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially: diabetes, or family or personal history of high blood fats (triglycerides), mental/mood problems (such as depression), liver problems, obesity, eating disorders (e.g., anorexia nervosa), alcohol consumption, pancreatitis, bone loss conditions (such as osteoporosis / osteomalacia, low bone density). Do not donate blood while taking isotretinoin and for at least one month after stopping it.

Do not undergo cosmetic procedures to smooth your skin (such as waxing, laser, skin peeling) during and for 6 months after treatment with isotretinoin. Skin scarring may occur.

Engaging in sports that involve repeated impact or friction (such as football, basketball, soccer, tennis) may cause bone problems, including an increased risk of fractures. Limited information also indicates that isotretinoin may halt normal growth in some children (closure of growth plates). Consult your doctor for more details.
Caution should be exercised when using this medicine in the elderly as they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially on bones.
Caution is advised when using this medicine in children as they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially back/joint/muscle pain.
This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or by those who may become pregnant during treatment. If you become pregnant or think you are pregnant, tell your doctor immediately. See also the warning section.
