Product description

Book: Psychology of Personality for Happiness by Professor Dr. Mohamed Shahat Rebieh is a reference consisting of 700 pages. We will discuss the chapters and sections of the book through the following presentation: The book is divided into three sections. The first section is determinants of personality, the second section is theories of personality, and the third section is measuring personality. The first section, titled "Personality and its determinants," is divided into four chapters that discuss personality in terms of definition and introduction, then biological determinants of personality, then social determinants of personality (social conditioning), as well as social determinants of personality (social development). The second section, titled "Theories of Personality," is divided into five parts: - The first part about psychoanalysis discusses Freud, Jung, Adler, Karen Horney, Murray, Erikson, and Erich Fromm. - The second part of this section discusses the behavioral approach, presenting the behaviorist school, stimulus-response theory, Bandura, and Rotter. - The third part is dedicated to the humanistic school, featuring two scholars: Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers, along with a brief summary of phenomenology. - The fourth part, titled "Trait Theories," contains two chapters: Chapter one on Gordon Allport, and chapter two on Raymond Cattell. - The fifth and final part includes three chapters, presenting the Islamic personality, discussing personality in the Quran (Najatī model), personality in the Hadith (Najatī model), and personality at Al-Ghazali. The third section, titled "Measuring Personality," contains three topics covered in three chapters: - The first topic on objective personality tests discusses the multiple-aptitude test, the California Personality Inventory, the 16 Personality Factors test, Jackson's test, and the psychological screening test. - The second topic covers projective tests, discussing the Rose and Shach test, the comprehension test, the comprehension test for children, the Rorschach test for sentence completion, the Rose Zweig test for measuring frustration, and the Achievement test for free association. - The third topic deals with direct methods of measuring personality, in two chapters: the first on interviews, and the second on behavioral measurement. The book also includes seven appendices as follows: 1. Appendix One: The history of psychopathology. 2. Appendix Two: Personality in Indian psychology. 3. Appendix Three: Terms in psychology in English translated into Arabic. 4. Appendix Four: A list of some important websites in the field of psychology on the internet. 5. Appendix Five: Computer applications in personality measurement. 6. Appendix Six: An ethical charter project for the profession of psychologist. 7. Appendix Seven: A list of international companies distributing psychological tests. Regarding this third section, I have written its topics and tests in a structured manner, dedicating a separate chapter for each test. There is no relation among these chapters, whether for projective or objective tests, so that the instructor can choose specific tests without others. Each test has its own chapter, which functions as a mini-instruction manual, including a definition of the test, what it measures, its year of publication, and related scientific details such as sample size, reliability, validity, standards used, and interpretation of individual opinions on the test—all of which are contained within each chapter separately. The style in which this book was written is characterized by smoothness, making it easy for the ordinary reader to follow. The scientific material compiled in this book is simple, straightforward, and accessible. It was gathered from multiple sources, all of which are recent, reliable, and trustworthy. I also apologize to the dear reader for any typographical errors present in the book, which the attentive reader will notice, given our knowledge of the intelligence and perceptiveness of our audience.
