In one trench

Number of pages: 408. Author: Ahmed Al-Zanati. Publishing house: Madarek for Publishing and Distribution. Year of publication: 2022. Life requires us to put clouds over our eyes so that we do not look right or left, but only look ahead, in the direction we are supposed to go. To live, we must be selective in our knowledge and memory, and only retain what contributes to our action. Over the days and with the accumulation of experience, aesthetic taste becomes hardened and the person becomes blatantly selective, rereading certain texts and specific authors. Life is shorter than the capacity to read a poor book, as James Joyce says. Perhaps one realizes at some point in life that they are living an experience of books mixed with the experience of life. That may be a form of spiritual training or, in other words, training on the necessity for a person to choose what they read, to reflect more, and to review oneself more, to scrutinize the choice of books and also the choice of people.
