Product description

Author's name: George Orwell Publisher: Dar Kalemat Number of pages: 355 The huge popular tax for any artist is the guarantee that they will be misunderstood. People apparently know more about the novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four" than they actually do. This book is an attempt to restore some balance by explaining what Orwell's novel is really about, the circumstances of its writing, and how it changed the world over the past seventy years after the author's departure. Certainly, the meaning of any artistic work is not limited to its creator's intentions, but in our case, Orwell's intentions — which were often distorted and neglected — deserve reconsideration if we want to understand the book as a book, not just a never-ending source of satirical popular cases. It is a work of art and a means of understanding the world alike. This is, therefore, the story of the book "Nineteen Eighty-Four." I have written many biographies of George Orwell, and conducted some academic studies on the intellectual context of his book, but no attempt has been made before to combine the two in a single narrative, with an exploration of the book's process as well. I am interested in Orwell's life because it is primarily a way to shed light on the experiences and ideas that became his personal nightmare, in which he systematically destroyed everything he valued: honesty, integrity, justice, memory, history, transparency, privacy, sound instinct, rationality, England, and love. I will trace Orwell's path through bombing London, the National Guard, the BBC, London’s cultural scene, and Europe exhausted after the war, reaching the island of Chora where he finally wrote his novel, to dismantle the myth that says: "Nineteen Eighty-Four" was a long lament caused by despair, issued by a lonely, dying man unable to face the future. I want to draw attention to what he really thought, and how this thinking came to him.
