Stalin: A political biography

Isaac Deutscher published a book: "Stalin, a Political Biography" in 1949, and it is his most prominent and unique work in the field of autobiography, as it revealed the life of Stalin and his work throughout his life. Like all distinguished biographies, the book provides excellent coverage of the history of the Russian Empire, then the Soviet Union during Stalin's rule, not limited to political affairs only, but extending to the cultural, economic, and diplomatic fields. The book caused a lot of controversy when it was first published, as Deutscher reveals how later Soviet advocates distorted some facts about Stalin's early life to reflect a different impression than what historians recorded.
