Product description
The plane landed on time at the ground of the prison airport, and the Chief of Staff waited for King Oedipus to exit the plane. The order issued to him by the higher command was to receive Oedipus properly upon his landing from the plane, then escort him to his cell without handcuffing him. But the plane door opened and no one came out. After more than half an hour, the king’s personal guard descended and approached the Chief of Staff and informed him of the last thing he expected to hear: the king refuses to get off the plane. The confrontation between the ruler and the people is the subject of this new exciting novel in which the great writer Mohamed Selmaoui depicts the popular revolution that ignites when the ruler in his palace becomes detached from the masses in the street. However, Selmaoui presents his subject through an innovative artistic framework that skillfully blends Greek tragedy represented by the legend of Oedipus and the curse he brought upon the country with his heinous crime, with our near popular revolution that changed the course of our contemporary history. Thus, he adds a tragic dimension rarely seen to the events of this pivotal phase in our modern history.
