The crime of the lone wolf

The events of the novel take place in 1992 in the late era of apartheid in South Africa, at the same time that Chief Inspector Kurt Valander investigates the murder of a housewife in the city of "Yestadt". The case appears to be an ordinary murder despite the lack of a clear suspect, but it quickly becomes clear that someone was chasing the victim and the police quickly caught them, only to discover that what seemed to be a passing murder was actually deeper and more mysterious, and that the case has deep roots in the history of the ongoing events in South Africa.
