The Fourth of June by Faisal Kiyal ... The writer Faisal Kiyal chooses "The Fourth of June" as a title through which he shapes his identity, for this date, despite its bitterness, means a lot to him; on that day, the writer and the city of Jeddah bid farewell with sorrow and sadness to his mother, the writer and doctor Ghada bint Abdulaziz Al-Houti "may God have mercy on her." She was a role model in addressing societal issues, people's problems, and solving them. Now, after seven years since the passing of the tender mother, the loyal son sends her his novel "The Fourth of June" as a gift, hoping it reaches her and she reads it in her high place, hoping she listens to his whispers, hoping she knows how much he needs her, and how much he misses her in his life. The novel is a memoir narrated by the writer, in which his "absent" mother is present in his life and in his "conscience." This is evident through exploring the idea of the mother's absence in the writer/narrator on a personal level, and her contribution to building his memory; through her continued presence in his imagination throughout the years of his life afterward, and he added a special chapter titled "Faisal's Thoughts." The writer says: "Oh my mother! Seven years have passed since I last touched your hand, since I last kissed your forehead. Oh my mother! Seven years have passed since I last grew. A month remains until I reach the age of twenty-six, but I still feel as if I haven't grown beyond nineteen, and how could I grow from the last time my eyes saw your eyes? Oh my mother! I want to be younger. The more I grow and the years of my life pass, the more your love and passion increase. Oh my mother! Don't leave me alone in the darkness, infatuated with you. When I buried you with my two hands, I buried my heart with you..." Author: Faisal Kiyal Arab Scientific Publishers
