Brave women from Tehran

Brave women from Tehran by Marjan Kamali ... (Shir Zan. Women of the lion's descendants. These are us. Can't you see that, Eli? One day, we will do great things, you and I. We will live lives for ourselves, and we will help others. We may be just two cubs now, but we will grow to become lionesses, two strong women who make things happen). In our small library in Tehran, I went back in Iran's history to investigate the story of a young woman passionate about books who falls in love during the 1953 Iranian coup d'état. In this new novel, I explore the story of friendship between two girls belonging to two families and classes with significant differences. I am not a researcher or historian, but I am a novelist, and I know the power of storytelling. It is storytelling that helped Scheherazade stay alive, and through stories, we find comfort, refuge, hope, and understanding. Dear reader, I hope to present to you with my pen what two girls from Iran experienced of joys, losses, hopes, dreams, and worries. I invented this story, but to me, it is real. I hope you enjoy their journey, and I hope you see some of your own hopes in theirs. I also hope that through their story, you feel that our hearts are all just one heart.
