This entire book takes the form of musical variations, as its parts follow each other like the stages of a journey leading to the depth of a subject, the depth of an idea, or leading into a single unique situation that is difficult for me to understand due to its magnitude. It is a novel about "Tamina," and at the moment when "Tamina" disappears from sight, it becomes a novel for "Tamina," as she is the main character, and also the main listener, and all other stories are merely variations on her own story, reflected in her life as in the woman.
