Goodbye, O war, goodbye, O peace

Wait for us, oh world. Wait for us a little. For we are coming to you. Busy, now, building the hands that reach to you. Preoccupied, now, with nurturing the feet that carry us to you. Drowning, now, in the process of building the bridges on which our voice crosses to you. Wait for us, oh world. Wait for us a little. For we are now learning to walk on the ground. Once again, we are learning to walk. So do not play too much with the trembling Earth. Do not play too much. Soon, we will be able to restore it to balance — if you wish. And soon, we will be able to push it to explosion — if you wish. We are now learning the art of walking. The book was first published in 1974. Author: Mahmoud Darwish. Number of pages: 147.
