Number of pages: 129. Author: Faisal Ghamri. Publishing house: Yastaron Publishing and Distribution. Year of publication: 2018. Ahmed, the journalist interested in history, travels to Malmö in Sweden for a short vacation, during which he meets Salwa, an Arab refugee in Sweden. The novel takes us to some of the tragedies of war and how the refugee makes the impossible to survive himself, and how it is one of life's ironies that the refugee in a foreign land finds what he did not find in his homeland from which he fled, saving himself at the expense of dignity and rights. The novel also discusses war from a somewhat philosophical perspective, raising questions about the reality of wars and their causes, and whether Arab countries have become mere arenas for settling scores among great powers and testing new weapons. And what about Arab blood? Has it become so cheap? The novel includes a part of fantasy — with the appearance of Ibn Khaldun and the dialogue between the protagonist, Ahmed, and him in one of the chapters.
