The biography of solitude

In this book, we try to understand isolation as an experience of consciousness, and a condition of deep thinking, and an honest confrontation with the world and the self together. In this book, we will trace the distances that separated humans from the world, as expressed by Descartes in his mental isolation, Nietzsche on the mountain peaks, Emily Dickinson behind her room door, and Proust behind his cork-lined walls.
