He opens the door, and the noise of the world spills into a silence that lasted half a lifetime. He steps as if waking from a dream, to find himself a visitor from another time, in a city that bears the names of his memories but no longer knows him. His only refuge is his small room, and the logic of cinema he is familiar with. He, who was a "film projectionist" giving people their dreams on the screen, has now become a viewer of his own life: warm memories in the company of his brother "Taha," a present in America, and a plot waiting for the final scene. In a bold narrative adventure, Amr El-Adly weaves a novel that tests the boundaries between mind and madness, memory and forgetfulness, reality and imagination to pose the eternal question: when all maps of reality fail, can the map of cinema lead us to salvation?
