The first Poirot cases

Pure coincidence is what led my friend Hercules Poirot, the former Belgian police chief, to become involved in the mysterious Stiles case. His success in solving it brought him great fame, so he decided to devote his time to solving mysterious crimes. After I was injured in the Somme battle and retired from the army due to injury, I finally moved to live with him in London. And because I have a close knowledge of most of his cases, some of them suggested to me to choose some of these more exciting cases and record them. And when I set out to do so, I felt that I would not find anything better than this tangled and strange case that widely attracted public interest... I mean the Victory Party case. Although this case may not fully reveal Poirot's strange methods in solving crimes, as is the case with some other more mysterious cases, its exciting features, the well-known characters involved, and the media fuss surrounding it made it a famous case, and I felt for a long time that it was my duty to inform the world of how Poirot uncovered the mystery of this case.
