And I know that I have written in these pages only one of two matters, either a matter I witnessed with my own eyes or a matter I heard from a trustworthy man. And I bear witness to God (El) that I did not intend with this book any glory or honor, but rather to show my testimony about a generation of the Children of Israel, whom God chose and saved with a miracle from their enemy, then He was angry with them and destroyed them in that barren wilderness, after making them taste the hardship of travel and the bitterness of wandering.
