When colour disappears, form remains

Dark monochrome footwear exposes design in a way colour never does, because an eye that finds no colour follows the line instead. That is why the wavy sole reads more sculpted on this version than on any other.

Design philosophy

Suede was replaced by smooth leather on this version specifically, for a functional reason. Black suede collects pale dust and shows it, while smooth leather wipes clean with a cloth in a second.

Material quality and our inspection standard

During inspection we noticed the black logo is embroidered in a glossy black thread over a matte ground, so it is read through a difference in sheen rather than colour. That is a precise execution requiring control of two thread types. The leather also returns to shape after bending with no permanent line.

The acquisition experience

This is the most practical release in the range. It arrives in brand packaging, and the WhatsApp team will recommend the right leather cream to keep it supple.

Styling

It works with everything and is the only one here that meets an unstructured suit and classic trousers. For black with a visible logo there is the 9060 black and white, and for slimmer leather New Balance 550. Everything is in New Balance.

Frequently asked

Is the material leather or suede

Smooth leather on this version specifically, and easier to clean than black suede.

Can it be worn with formal dress

With an unstructured suit and classic trousers yes. With full formal tailoring we would not suggest it.

Is the logo visible

Read through a difference in sheen rather than colour, and clearly visible when the shoe is tilted under light.

How do I clean it

A damp cloth then immediate drying, with a clear leather cream every couple of months.
