Petaderm ointment 0.1% What is Petaderm and what is its use: Petaderm belongs to a class of drugs known as "topical corticosteroids" that work to reduce inflammation, itching, and redness of the skin. It is used to treat some skin problems, such as eczema (a common skin disorder that causes itching and redness), and some types of dermatitis. It is available in the form of ointment and cream applied to the skin. Do not use Petaderm: if you are allergic to Petaderm, or any other corticosteroid or any of the ingredients in this product. if the package is torn or tampered with. if the expiration date on the medication box has passed. if you have an allergic reaction or skin irritation when using this cream/ointment. if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. if you have other skin problems (such as fungal or bacterial skin infections, or itching of the anus or genitals, or cold sores, or herpes zoster, or chickenpox, or tuberculosis, or skin ulcers, or acne, or perioral dermatitis). Using this medication for other skin disorders may worsen your condition. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure. if you have poor circulation in the skin area (to prevent skin ulcers). in children under one year old, unless recommended by your doctor. Warnings and precautions: Stop using the medication immediately and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you develop any allergy or skin reactions to any of the ingredients in this cream/ointment such as skin itching, redness, shortness of breath, rash, facial or neck swelling, low blood pressure, dizziness. This medication is for external topical use only. Do not swallow this product. Avoid contact of the cream/ointment with your lips, eyes, mouth, and sensitive areas of the neck and nostrils to prevent irritation. In case of accidental contact, rinse the area well with warm water and dry. Contact your doctor immediately if you or your child experience any vision problems (such as blurred vision). Do not use occlusive dressings if you have a skin infection. Talk to your doctor before starting this medication if you are allergic to any medicines, dyes, foods, or other preservatives. if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy or breastfeeding, or planning to breastfeed. if you have other health problems (especially if you have an infection). Make sure to inform your healthcare providers that you are using this medication. Contact your doctor if your skin condition worsens, becomes inflamed, or does not improve. Talk to your doctor if you are not using this product as directed to ensure it does not lead to switching to another treatment believing this medication is not suitable for you. Do not share this medication with anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms. Do not use tight diapers or plastic pants if this product will be used in the diaper area of infants. Do not apply this medication under tight clothing to avoid skin thinning. Do not use this medication for a long time over large areas to prevent excessive absorption and subsequent side effects. Do not use this product for other purposes. Possible side effects: Potential side effects include allergic reactions (such as rash, itching, swelling, blisters, or peeling of the skin, nodular rash, wheezing, swelling of eyelids, lips, face, mouth, chest tightness, fainting, difficulty breathing), rash around the mouth, increased hair growth, heat rash, acne, skin color changes, stretch marks or lines on the skin, and hair follicle injury. Common side effects include itching, dry skin, redness, and burning. Other side effects (more likely with prolonged use on large skin areas, especially under occlusive dressings) include stomach ulcers, delayed wound healing, high blood pressure, eye problems (such as increased eye pressure known as glaucoma, cataracts, and blurred vision), increased risk of infections, acne, excessive growth of facial and body hair, muscle weakness, and fluid retention. Other medications and Petaderm: inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have recently used, are using, or might use any other medications including topical products (such as creams, lotions, ointments). How to use Petaderm: Adults apply a thin layer of the cream/ointment and gently massage it into the affected area as directed by your doctor. Children: this medication is not recommended for children unless prescribed by your doctor. If prescribed, close monitoring of the child for any unwanted side effects is necessary. Usage instructions: wash and dry your hands before and after using the cream/ointment (do not wash your hands after use if it is for your hand skin). Ensure the cap on the tube is replaced after use to prevent leakage. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions carefully. Keep the cream/ointment away from your eyes. In case of accidental contact, rinse your eyes thoroughly with running water for at least 10 minutes. Do not apply the cream/ointment under a dressing or plaster to prevent excessive absorption and side effects. Do not use this cream/ointment on your face unless directed by your doctor. If your skin condition does not improve after a week, contact your doctor immediately. Do not use this cream/ointment on skin wounds, large skin areas, or skin folds (such as behind the knees) unless advised by your doctor. Avoid using this medication before bathing or swimming so as not to affect its effectiveness. Using less than the recommended dose may result in no improvement of your skin. Your doctor will determine how long you will use this product and may adjust the frequency based on your response. Prolonged use of this medication increases the risk of side effects. Do not change how you use this medication without consulting your doctor first. How to store Petaderm: keep the medication out of reach of children and pets (for example, in a locked cabinet at least 1.5 meters above the ground). Store in a dry place below 25°C. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the cream/ointment. Do not dispose of the medication in sewage or household waste; ask your pharmacist how to dispose of unused medicines. Do not leave the medication on windowsills or in a car. Keep the medication in its original container to protect from moisture and light.
