Turkish Jareesh is a warm and healthy dish prepared from crushed wheat cooked slowly with tomatoes, onions, and spices, to give a rich creamy texture without high fats. It combines the light flavor of Turkish spices and the taste of natural grains, making it a filling yet light meal at the same time. It is usually served with yogurt and a sprinkle of paprika, and is an ideal option for a healthy lunch or dinner.
Ingredients for Turkish Jareesh (for 2–3 people):
1 cup washed and soaked Jareesh for 30 minutes

1 grated tomato
1 teaspoon tomato paste
½ teaspoon Turkish red pepper (paprika)
A pinch of cumin + salt to taste

Chopped parsley for garnish
Preparation method:
In a pot on the stove, heat the olive oil and add the onion until wilted.
Add the grated tomato and tomato paste and stir for 2–3 minutes.

Pour in 4 cups water or vegetable broth, and add salt, paprika, and cumin.
