Healing of souls and refinement of morals - Ibn Hazm Al-Andalusi

Tossed between blessings and hardships, between an ancient noble status and difficult days, and he is a wanderer, a fugitive among the elite and the leaders of the country and the men of the state, and among the common people in their work, morals, behavior, fluctuations, conditions, ambitions, and goals. He sees what is between them of separation, similarity, difference, and contradiction, and he extracts the constants of the human soul, what can change and transform within it, and what can be repaired. He sees the turning of the world with its people from time to time, and he looks to the Hereafter, and what Allah has prepared for His servants of the everlasting reward. He weighs the conditions of people with the measure of the Qur'an and Sunnah with his keen mind and far-sighted vision, and he records the summary of this in few words, or in few lines, in lofty language and captivating, penetrating style, so that these words become like a constitution adopted by scholars, and a guide for the wise, so they do not repeat previous experiences, nor fall into mistakes that harmed others, and they can avoid them. And he explores the paths of human progress, so they follow and ascend to its heights. Ibn Hazm, may Allah have mercy on him, saw that uprightness in behavior is a result of the uprightness of the soul and mind, and he provides the effective medicine for it so that people are aware and guided. He poured into this book all that he could of this medicine in his view, and presented it to those who seek it.
