Product description
In 1929, the writer Tawfiq Al-Hakim, the dean of Arab theater, wrote the play "People of the Cave," and published it in 1933, so it was a "mental and spiritual nourishment," as it was the beginning of the emergence of a theatrical trend known as "mental theater," which is the opposite of traditional theater, the purpose of which is to be read and not performable by actors, and it is known that it is difficult to perform it in front of an audience, as it was written to address the mind and thought. Then "People of the Cave" was the first theatrical performances shown at the opening of the National Theater in 1935, directed by Zakki Talamat, but it failed, so "mental theater" is a difficult art to be absorbed by the audience. The play "People of the Cave" revolves around the human struggle with time, as three saints escape with their religion from King "Daqyanus," and take refuge in a cave where they sleep for three centuries and wake up in another time, to find that their previous life has ended, and they feel alienation and loneliness in a new world, so they decide to return again to the cave, preferring death over their new life.
