Passion - Janet Winterson

At the beginning of the nineteenth century, on the first bank of that world, Henry, the personal servant of the emperor and passionate about him, dwells. And on the other bank, Filail, a waitress in a Venice tavern and a fierce hater of the emperor. The story revolves and grinds countries and servants, and chaos spreads... so the two traits meet, and what comes after? In this novel, writer Janet Winterson takes the reader on a journey to the villages of France and the Tablian camps, and from there to the cold of Russia and the magic of Venice. Amidst the events, she plants in the reader's mind seeds of questions that do not cease to occupy him even after the curtain falls: What is passion? Was Bonaparte a great man or a narcissistic fool? Is man inherently driven by a hunger for war and killing? Is love real or imagination? And the most important question, do humans have one face and one life, or new faces and loves? The novel of passion. Writer Janet Winterson. Translation Emad Al-Otaili
