Stories of Our Neighborhood - Naguib Mahfouz

A unique novel in its composition, its structure is full of stories that at first glance seem like standalone narrative units, but they come together in sequence to form a picture of the neighborhood, or of the world as Safouan sees it, drawn from the eyes of a child who grew up in the neighborhood and experienced its characters and conditions. Stories that begin with the mystique and symbolism of the Sufi cloaks and end with them again after passing through the neighborhood's children, narrating their amazing stories. It is said that Safouan started writing it as a book inspired by his autobiography and personal experience, then it led or guided him to broader horizons of imagination and reflection. It was adapted into a theatrical work with the same title in 1990. (Novel information) Author: Naguib Safouan Publisher: Diwan Number of pages: 184
