Empty room - Amal Al-Faran

After reading this novel, your perspective towards some things will change. The feeling it leaves in the soul does not fade quickly. The heroes of this novel are very ordinary people, perhaps we meet them every day, everywhere, but we do not sense the restless spirits inside them, nor the conflicts that shape them in the way they try to beautify in front of us. In her fourth novel, Amal Al-Faran attempts to explore the complex human psyche; she does not offer ready-made recipes or a guide to understanding it. Instead, she diagnoses it with short, shocking sentences as if she wants to say this is who we are even if we try to beautify it. Amal Al-Faran is a Saudi storyteller and novelist. Her novel "Her Soul Marked" won the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity in 2004. Her novel "The Dwellers of Al-Ahqaf" also reached the Sheikh Zayed Award. She has published a collection of stories titled "The Girl Who No Longer Grows in the Photo Album" through Dar Athar. She also published the novels "Creatures of Tarab" and "Alone at Home - Stories."
