Marina - Carlos Zafón

Author's name: Carlos Zafón Publisher: Jamal Publications for Publishing and Distribution Year of publication: 2025 Literary classification: Novel Brief about the book: Marina novel is a pivotal moment in Carlos Ruiz Zafón's creative journey. It is the last novel he dedicates to the emerging generation, and with it, he introduces this literary style, accompanied by his young reader, the atmosphere of adventure and suspense, the tone of romance and nostalgia, and confronting horror and its causes with heroism and intelligence, into the world of the open novel that suits all age groups. It is the first novel he dedicates to events taking place in Barcelona. After Britain, France, and India, Zafón takes his hometown as a new stage for his traditional narrative plot, making Barcelona an essential hero, highlighting its urban landmarks and enriching the fictional imagination with its history, culture, and the uniqueness of its people and strangers. The Marina novel is therefore a necessary station to understand the development of storytelling craft in this writer, where his maturity in character development, the multiplicity of the narrator's voice, symbolism, choice of place and time, and the presentation of details with skill will later astonish readers around the world and invite them to enter the "cemetery of forgotten books."
