Historical glimpses: The company (Gruen) was founded by Dietrich Gruen (a German-Swiss immigrant) in 1894 in Ohio, and was one of the largest watch companies in America for a long time. In the twenties, the company established a giant factory in Biel/Switzerland under the name Precision Factory, and from there the brand began to establish its everlasting reputation in producing mechanical movements. The well-known quartz crisis gradually led to the company's collapse despite previous successes. The Swiss factory was closed in 1958, and it continued with some limited editions until the final closure.
