As in "Spring Snow" and "Runaway Horses," we find that the hero is nothing more than the same first hero himself, but after his transfer through reincarnation, to begin a new cycle of existence, and for Honda alone to know the connection that links the heroes of the tetralogy, through two specific elements: three moles carried by all the heroes, and a set of fantastical dreams. Mishima is certain that his tetralogy is the point of arrival for everything he has learned as a writer. He pointed out to his friends that when he finished writing it, he had only one thing left to do: "suicide" — and that indeed happened.
