About the book: George Edward Moore's philosophical text is considered the clearest and most straightforward philosophical text. These two, clarity and straightforwardness, are goals that his philosophy, and contemporary analytical philosophy in general, sought to achieve. His writing itself was an embodiment of the aims of his philosophy. It seemed to him that the history of philosophy was filled with ambiguity and brimming with fallacies that shock, first and foremost, the minds and beliefs of ordinary people. His philosophy assumed the infertility of any thought contradicting common intuition. Therefore, his philosophy, in the English environment, was a step out of the bottle neck into which modern Hegelian philosophies had pushed philosophy with their English guise in the second half of the nineteenth century. His philosophy aimed to be a step forward and a review of a type of thought that dominated the history of philosophy, especially modern philosophy, which was devoid of sound logic or common sense. Moore's philosophical text does not.
