About the book: The anniversary of poet Biles Sandarar's birth falls on September 1st of each year. He was born on September 1, 1887, in "Chou-de-Fond" in Switzerland, and died in Paris on January 21, 1961. At the beginning of his literary life, he wrote for a short period, under three pseudonyms: Freddy Souza, (Jack Lee), and "Dijin". He left Switzerland at the age of seventeen to live in Russia, and in 1911 he settled in New York. In Paris, he published under the name Plez Sandarar, which alludes, even through a slight distortion, to the ash and the legendary symbolic circles of the phoenix rising from its ashes. He participated as a volunteer soldier in the French army during World War I. On September 28, his hand was amputated after a serious injury. About this experience, he wrote "The Hand Amputated" and "Poet of the Left Hand". This great poet lived a rich experience of travel and constant wandering, reflected in his collections "In the Heart of the World," "From the Whole World," and "Discovering Brazil."
A shining poetic mass dedicated to the archipelago of insomnia, as Henry Miller described it, in his novel "The Golden Orbit," life and influence of Biles Sandarar. Indeed, the life and works of this poet are closely intertwined. This connection was highlighted by one of Sandarar's most prominent critics, the French critic Louis Barr, who conducted a pioneering study based on his poetry, novels, and diaries, which are overall expressions of a spiritual content and at the same time the establishment of a new literary genre.
